A 15-year-old Dalit girl from Dharauli village in the Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh was allegedly raped after being held captive for 15 days by three men.
The police on Sunday said the girl went missing while going to school on December 14, adding that she was “freed” on Saturday after which the matter came to the light and an FIR registered against the three.
While one Raju has been charged with rape, Basantlal and Sahabdeen have been booked for criminal conspiracy. The police are trying to arrest other absconding suspects.
The incident comes amid national outrage over the Delhi gang-rape incident whose victim died on Friday night after battling for life for nearly two weeks.
