Two inmates of Jodhpur Central Jail have gone on an indefinite fast to protest against alleged corrupt practices prevailing in the prison.

Hemant Kumar and Bansi, both murder convicts, have demanded action against the jail superintendent by registering a case against him and seizure of the records of jail, which according to them, have been tampered with and fudged to hide facts.

Kumar informed this to journalists by calling up from his mobile phone in jail to draw their attention to alleged corrupt practices prevailing in the jail.

Jail superintendent AR Niyaji has, however, denied use of any mobile phone by the jail inmates.

Kumar, however, claimed that he paid Rs 15,000 to arrange the mobile phone in the jail and he was not the only inmate enjoying this facility. "One can get anything arranged in the jail provided he is able to pay for it," he said.
