2 women die under mysterious circumstances in Jammu

Jyoti Devi was found dead with bullet injuries on her body at her residence in Kotli Chand area; Pooja Devi died under mysterious circumstances at her in-laws' in Sunderbani area.

Two women died under mysterious circumstances in Reasi and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.

Jyoti Devi, wife of Village Defence Committee (VDC) member Piyara Singh, was found dead with bullet injuries on her body at her residence in Kotli Chand area of Chasana in Reasi district yesterday, they said.

The bullet was fired from a rifle issued to her husband in capacity of VDC member, they said, adding her husband had been detained on murder charges.

Meanwhile her in-laws claimed she had committed suicide by shooting herself with her husband's rifle, they said.

In another incident, a newly married woman, Pooja Devi, died under mysterious circumstances at her in-laws residence in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district yesterday.

Pooja had married on December 10, 2009, and was posted at Government Primary School at Barnera of the district as a teacher, police said.
