22-year-old molests a 32-year-old woman in Kalyan

A 32-year-old woman (Juliee Dixit) from Kalyan was molested in front of her son and her friend on May 28, near Laxmi market at Kalyan. The victim was stalked by the accused, Kiran Ashok Jambhale, 22, who also stays in Kalyan. After the victim raised an alarm, a few shopkeepers in the vicinity caught Jambhale and handed him over to Mahatma Phule police station.

Jambhale was a labourer on a contractual basis at a construction site.

Dixit along with her son and another friend, had gone to Thane, to buy dresses for a wedding. While coming back from Thane, when the victim reached Kalyan station, Jambhale started stalking her. Dixit ignored him and started walking fast. Jambhale then asked her for her number, but Dixit refused. After sometime the victim's friend started arguing with Jambhale, after which he started molesting her also.

Jambhale, then went on held her hand, and threatened to kill her son. He then started hitting Dixit. A few vendors saw what was happening, and caught hold of Jambhale and handed him to the Mahatma Phule police station.

"He started stalking us as soon as we reached the Kalyan station. He started hitting me and pulled my shirt. When I screamed for help, a few vendors came to our rescue. Such people should be punished. He even threatened to kill my child," said Dixit.

Investigation officer, P Choudhary from Mahatma Phule police station said, "We have arrested the culprit. He works as a daily wage labourer. We are investigating the case further, and try to figure our, what made him take such step."

Jambhale has been booked under sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent),
323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), and 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code
