23-year-old footballer from Margao killed in road mishap

The mishap occured when the deceased identified as Jerry Dias was returning home with his friend Sebasteao Oliveira after a morning practice session.

A 23-year-old football player from Margao was today killed another injured when the bike on which they were travelling collided with a car at Verna in South Goa, police said.

The mishap occured when the deceased identified as Jerry Dias was returning home with his friend Sebasteao Oliveira after a morning practice session with the Calangute Association Football team, they said.

The bike collided with a car while trying to takeover a SUV, killing Jerry on the spot and seriously injuring Oliveira, who has been admitted to the Goa Medical College hospital in critical condition.

Jerry was registered with Faria strikers and had sought transfer to play for Calangute Association for this season. A case has been registered and investigations are on, Verna police said.
