Deepika delivered a baby girl on September 2. She was married to Jai Krishnan and was working in Singapore.

A 25-year-old software engineer from Chennai committed suicide in Singapore on Wednesday, a leading daily reported. Deepika jumped off the 15th floor of an apartment complex. Her parents have now filed a harassment complaint to Chennai police commissioner TK Rajendran.

Deepika was reportedly married to Jai Krishnan and was working in Singapore. The couple had a baby girl on September 2. Her parents, Srinivasan and Usha, have alleged that their son-in-law harassed their daughter. Deepika sent an SMS to her sister at 7 am on Wednesday stating, "If anything happens to me you should ask my husband to pay for the expenses to bring my body to India." It is also reported that Deepika’s sister received another SMS a few days back where she said that she was depressed and wants to end her life.

Her parents have reported that Jai Krishnan and his parents wanted to call off the marriage because she wore spectacles. As a result, Deepika underwent eye surgery before her marriage to him in 2014. When they requested their son-in-law to send their daughter to Chennai for delivery, he is said to have refused stating he wanted Singapore citizenship for the child. After admitting her in the hospital, he reportedly demanded Rs 10 lakhs for hospital expenses.

Deepika’s mother and father have asked the police commissioner to get their son-in-law to bring back her body and the baby to Chennai. According to the report, the police have sent the complaint to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) who will now investigate the case.
