With the board exams round the corner, Gujarat board's helpline for students, who find themselves stressed due to exams, is being flooded with distress calls.

In the last one week, the helpline operated by the Gujarat board has received on an average 45 calls every hour.  Most of the callers ask for guidance on scoring better marks, dealing with anxieties and boosting memory power.

The helpline began functioning from February 4 onwards.  According to sources, on Thursday, the helpline received a total of 7,703 calls from students across the state. The helpline which is open from 8am to 8 pm will be functional till March 4. "This year, both science and commerce students who have done well in their preliminary exams are seeking guidance on improving their scores.

Arts students usually seek help in memorising long and narrative questions," said a source. Besides students, parents also call the helpline to seek aid for their stressed and depressed children.
Parents at times also inquire about how they can help improve the performance of their wards. "We also get calls from students who have performed well in their previous exams but are not sure of maintaining the score in the boards," said a source. The questions at the helpline are answered by four experts including retired principals and physiologists.
