600 GTU students to US, Canada on internship

The GTU has been sending students for summer internships in overseas universities since last year.

In a bid to get around 600 students academic exposure abroad and grooming in foreign standards of academic work, the Gujarat Technological University (GTU) will send them to varsities in the US and Canada as part of their summer internships.

The GTU has been sending students for summer internships in overseas universities since last year. The programme, known as International Experience Programme, gives students from MBA, MCA and Pharmaceuticals disciplines spend two months at various universities like University of Alberta, St Lawrence University, University of Kansas among many others in the USA and Canada.   

Students visiting Kansas will study two courses from the semester VII of the Electronics and Communication Engineering. The subjects will be Digital Signal Processing and Wireless Communication.

"The academic calendar for this batch will be designed in such a way that their next academic term does not suffer. The classes for those two subjects will be held every day at those places just like normal study for 8 weeks. Forty lectures for each course are planned to be delivered at the KSU. At the end of programme, students will appear for an end semester examination at the KSU," stated an official. 

Students who will leave for the varsity in June will return in August, the officials added.
