The Indian Railways will start 40 new pairs (80 special trains) services from September 12 for which reservations will begin from Sept 10. These new trains will run in addition to 230 trains that are already in operation, Railway Board Chairman V K Yadav said on Saturday.
"Eighty new special trains or 40 pair of trains will start operations from September 12. Reservations will begin from September 10. This will run in addition to the 230 trains already in operation," he said.
He also said that the Railways will run clone trains for waiting-list passengers
"Wherever there is a demand for a particular train, wherever the waiting list is long, we will run a clone train ahead of the actual train, so that passengers can travel," the railway board chairman said.
Yadav also said the Railways will run trains whenever there is demand from states for exams or other similar purposes.
Yadav also said that an immediate action for removing garbage along tracks has been taken jointly by the Delhi government and the Railways in line with the Supreme Court order.
The Bullet train project is also progressing well. The COVID-19 pandemic affected a few tenders and land acquisition process. However, within 3-6 months, when we get definite status of land, bullet train project completion timeframe can be worked out, he added.
