Aadhaar PVC card with enhanced security features: Charges, other details explained

Now you will be able to carry the Aadhaar PVC card in your wallets, just like your ATM or debit cards. It is more durable, convenient to carry, instantly verifiable offline, loaded with the latest security features.

Good news for Indians. Aadhaar issuing body UIDAI has introduced a more secured Aadhaar card called the PVC Card. Basically, it is the same Aadhaar card that you possess, however, the Aadhaar PVC Card has made the physical carrying of it more convenient and it comes with better security features.

What is Aadhaar PVC card

The all-new Aadhaar card will now come in a completely different avatar as the Aadhar issuing body Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has allowed it to be reprinted as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) card.

Now you will be able to carry the Aadhaar card in your wallets, just like your ATM or debit cards. "Loaded with the latest security features, your Aadhaar is now more durable, convenient to carry, instantly verifiable offline," UIDAI said in a tweet.

Security features of Aadhaar PVC card:

1. Aadhaar PVC card is more durable, convenient to carry.

2. Instant offline verification by QR code.

3. Good printing quality and it comes with lamination

4. The all-new Aadhaar PVC card has the latest security features including a hologram, Guilloche Pattern, ghost image & Microtext.

5. It contains security features like issue date & print date.

6. The card is completely weather-proof.

7. The Aadhaar PVC card contains the embossed Aadhaar logo.

How to order Aadhaar PVC card online

On its website, UIDAI has launched the 'Order Aadhaar Card' service which facilitates the Aadhaar holder to get their Aadhaar details printed on PVC card by paying a nominal charge of Rs 50/- (Inclusive of GST & speed post charges).

You can raise the 'Aadhaar Card' request by visiting the UIDAI Official Website or Resident Portal using 12 digits Aadhaar Number (UID) or 16 digits Virtual Identification Number (VID) or 28 digits Enrollment ID.

Request can also be raised using registered or non-registered mobile number. If you do so with your registered mobile number, the OTP/TOTP will be received on the particular registered mobile number.

For non-registered/alternate mobile number, OTP will be received on the same.

Modes of payment for Aadhaar PVC card

The payment can be made using online mode of payment, including credit card, debit card, net banking, and UPI.

How to track the status of Aadhaar PVC card

The status of the Aadhaar PVC card can be tracked on www.uidai.gov.in under the 'My Aadhaar' tab.

Under the 'My Aadhaar' tab, click on 'Check Aadhaar PVC card status'. On the new screen, you will be required to enter 28-digit SRN, 12-digit Aadhaar number and captcha code. The status will be reflected after clicking on 'Check Status'.

SRN is a 28-digit Service Request Number which is generated after raising request for Aadhaar Card on the website.

How long will it take for you to receive the Aadhaar PVC card

As per the FAQs on the UIDAI website, once the request is raised, the UIDAI will hand over the card to the post office within five working days (excluding the date of request) and the PVC card will be delivered using Speed Post services.
