In a statement, Gujarat Congress Arjun Modhwadia has alleged that the then Union home minister LK Advani was the guiding force behind the attempt to save Modi.

Echoing the words of late Vitthalbhai Pandya, father of slain BJP leader Haren Pandya, president of Gujarat Congress, Arjun Modhwadia, has alleged that the team of Narendra Modi and LK Advani was responsible for Haren Pandya's killers still moving free.

In a statement, Modhwadia has alleged that the then Union home minister LK Advani was the guiding force behind the attempt to save Modi. "Advani had sought safe passage all the way to the Bangladesh border for the other accused in this case - Mufti Sufiyan and his family. Gujarat police had escorted them all the way there," he has alleged.

"Vitthalbhai and Haren's wife, Jagruti, had sought reinvestigation of the case several times but chief minister Narendra Modi had not even registered their pleas. If BJP has the courage, they should demand the resignation of Advani and Modi and order a reinvestigation into Haren Pandya's murder," Modhwadia stated.
In the statement, Modhwadia further says that after Haren Pandya's murder, investigation of the case was given first to Modi's "fake encounter specialist sharp shooters. When they botched up the investigation, they guided the CBI sleuths."

"Pandya had revealed details about the meeting at Modi's residence on February 27, 2002 to the Citizens Tribunal headed by Justice VR Krishna Iyer. Modi was petrified that he would reveal more. He ensured that Pandya did not get the ticket from his constituency and, after his death, even stopped BJP MLAs from going to Pandya's besna," Modhwadia said.
