NEW DELHI: What finally convinced BJP leader Vijay Jolly to take on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the New Delhi constituency? A chat with BJP prime ministerial candidate LK Advani.
Dikshit has twice won from the Gole Market constituency. But after the delimitation exercise, that seat does not exist any more - it is now the New Delhi constituency.
Jolly, whose candidature was announced Nov 1, was in a dilemma whether to contest from the New Delhi constituency or not.
"I was in a dilemma. But a day before my name was announced I met Advaniji. We talked at ease and he addressed my concerns," he said
Jolly, a businessman by profession, said the senior BJP leader assured him that he was a clear-cut winner.
And he has already started campaigning, despite a fractured right leg.
"I was honoured that in a party with first, second and third generations of leaders, I am fielded against Dikshit. I am sure of winning. Dikshit is living in a fool's paradise if she thinks she would win," said Jolly, who had a sore throat after addressing a meeting at 4 am on Wednesday.
