After 800 years power of Delhi in hands of a proud Hindu- VHP
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Ashok Singhal unabashedly announced Modi's victory as power returning to a 'Swabhimani Hindu' after 800 years of void, since the time of Rajput king –Prithviraj Chauhan, on Friday.
"Eight hundred years after it (the power at Delhi) went away from Prithviraj Chauhan, it did not come into the hands of a proud Hindu. It has happened after 800 years," Singhal said amid loud applause.
Singhal said the VHP was founded in 1964 with the objective of creating "a fearless Hindu, an invincible Hindu."
He was speaking at the inaugural address of the First World Hindu Congress (WHC). The three day Congress, according to organisers is being attended by over 1800 participants of which nearly 700 have come from 54 countries, including USA, Australia, UK, New Zealand, Fiji, Mauritius, etc.
Trying to give an acceptable definition of Hindu, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said, "A Hindu means a human being who seeks unity in all diversity."
There would always be a need to realise "sameness of humanity" in the world and the Hindu society can deliver the message, Bhagwat said. He called for ridding Hindu society of its shortcomings and make India a world leader.
Referring Sri Lankan Tamils as Hindus, Justice CV Wigneswaran, chief minister of Sri Lanka's Northern Province, asked the Modi government to help them in getting of difficulties that have not ended despite war against LTTE coming to end in 2009.
The first day of the RSS backed WHC saw cabinet ministers like HRD minister Smriti Irani, Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Nirmala Sitharaman participating in various sessions that had ample pouring of Hindu seers.
Most of the NRI delegates attending the WHC are active members of VHP and RSS and in their words – looking eagerly at the Modi government to help them conserve and flower Hindu culture and customs in alien lands.
