After snow in the hilly area, mercury falls in the northern plains of India

After snowfall in the upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir recently, mercury in Punjab and Haryana dipped.

After snowfall in the upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir recently, mercury in Punjab and Haryana dipped with Narnaul being the coldest place in the region registering a minimum temperature of 11.2 degrees Celsius.
 
While mercury at Narnaul in Haryana dropped by four degrees than normal, the chill also set in at Karnal, which recorded a low of 12.2 deg C today, down three notches, the MeT said here.
 
Ambala registered a low of 13.2 deg C, down two degrees, while the low at Rohtak was 13.6 deg C, down one degree. The minimum at Bhiwani, too, settled on the lower side at 13.8 deg C.
 
Chandigarh today registered the season's coldest night so far at 12.4 deg C, down three notches.
 
In Punjab, Patiala was the coldest place recording a low of 12.9 deg C, down one degree.
 
Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded similar minimums of 13.4 deg C each, the MeT said.
 
The MeT has forecast further fall in night temperatures in the region.
