NEW DELHI: A Supreme Court bench on Friday reserved its verdict on a crucial constitutional issue of legality on dumping various laws in the ninth schedule for that’s beyond judicial scrutiny.

But Judges expressed displeasure on the Centre’s highest law officer Attorney General Milon K Banerjee not appearing before it. Though a notice was also issued to AG for his arguments in this serious matter having wide ramifications on the future politics and administration, Additional Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium appeared for him.

“We had issued notice to the Attorney General (AG) and wanted him to be present and not an attorney on his behalf,” observed the 9-member bench. When Subramanium stood up to commence arguments on behalf of AG, they observed, “the AG should have courtesy to appear before the bench at least for five minutes especially when the matter is of such importance,” the bench said and further remarked: “There is no concept of an attorney holder for AG.”
