Cops suspect the duo involved could be part of a gang.

The heist near the HDFC bank, in which Rs5 lakh was snatched from a man, seems to be the work of a gang specialising in the same.

Cops believe that the duo involved in the robbery may be part of such a gang. Sources in the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB), which is also investigating the heist along with the Navrangpura police, said that the modus operandi used by the criminals is being closely studied.

A senior crime branch official said, "We are at present examining the modus operandi used in the crime." He said the CCTV footage is also being analysed.

Officials refused to give anymore details in the case as the matter was still under investigation.

A senior official said, "It is premature to talk about anything right now. Everything is being looked into."

On Monday afternoon, an employee of a transport company, Girish Dave (54) was robbed of more than Rs 5 lakh in cash near the HDFC bank on Mithakali crossroads by two unidentified people on a bike.

Sources said Dave's statements will also be taken to help the police get an idea about the accused. Dave had tried to chase the duo but they escaped.
