Personnel deployed for gram panchayat polls will keep an eye on yearend revellers.

There will be more trouble for New Year-eve party-goers.

The security arrangement for gram panchayat elections will not allow the part-goers to move freely. While police normally crack down on year-end revellers violating the law, this time they will be present because of the poll duty.

For the election duty, policemen will be deployed right from December 28. While the elections will be held on December 29, the counting will take place on December 30.

So the revellers will hardly get any leeway to carry liquor to party venues on any of these days.

In rural Ahmedabad, policemen on duty for elections will also keep an eye on party-goers. A large numbers of policemen will be deployed for the panchayat elections and they will continue their duty till December 31.

"The cops for the election bandobast will be deployed from December 28 and will be on duty till December 31," sources said.

Sources also said that the cops from different areas would be deployed at different strategic locations near the farmhouses.

Sources close to development said that the police presence will surely affect the party- goers.

District superintendent of police (Ahmedabad Rural) RR Bhagat said that the district will get a large number of policemen from Ahmedabad city for the election bandobast and "we will ask this force to keep a watch on party-goers who break the law."

Police officials from Bopal, Sanand and Sarkhej will be deployed round-the-clock to look for party-goers who are not following the law.

Sources close to the development said that the 'notorious farmhouses' will be paid special attention to curb booze parties.

Farmhouses near Labkaman, Telav and Bopal areas will be watched mainly by the cops of those areas.

"The exact drive will start from December 22," a source said. The rural police have made special teams with men from Special Operations Group (SOG) and Local Crime Branch (LCB).
