The Ahmedabad municipal corporation (AMC) is planning to add new amusement facilities for visitors to the Kankaria lakefront. The civic body has invited Expression of Interest (EOI) from parties or companies keen to provide for innovative amusement activities at the lakefront.
Deputy municipal commissioner, South zone, MS Patel, said the civic body had received several interesting proposals for new amusement facilities at Kankaria. "However, we will consider all the proposals only after the last date for submitting entries is over," he said.
One of the proposals is for a self-balancing vehicle. Giving details of the proposed vehicle, the party which suggested it to the AMC said: "It is battery operated, environment friendly and requires no special training to operate it." The sleek vehicle, which is a kind of personal transport, can carry up to 128 kg of people and goods.
Patel said that proposals for ice-skating facilities and a 'dashing car' are some of the other proposals which the AMC has received.
Sources in the civic body said that if the proposal for ice-skating facilities is approved, a large open area will be required to put the rink in place. Besides the rink, ice and chillers for maintaining the temperature of the ice will also have to be put in place, the sources said. The 'dashing car' is something that is popular with children as well as adults.
"We need to assess the viability of each proposal we receive. We also need to assess the space required for them. Also, people's convenience, and the time it will take to put the new facilities in place will also have to be considered," Patel said. He added that the civic body would also like to ensure that the new facilities earn enough to make them sustainable.
