Ahmedabad police will soon be introducing a helpline for people who were unable to file a complaint because of the uncooperative attitude of police stations.
Another police measure to be introduced in the next two months will make checking of ownership papers at security check-posts in the city less of a hassle for vehicle owners.
Talking to reporters, joint commissioner of police, sector 1, Satish Sharma, said a dedicated helpline will be started in the next two months.
"This helpline will be exclusively for people who have been unable to file a complaint because of the uncooperative attitude of staff at police stations," Sharma said.
If a complainant uses this helpline, a message will be flashed to all officers concerned that someone wants to file a police complaint at a specific police station.
"A senior police officer will respond immediately and ensure that the complainant is able to file a complaint," Sharma said. The city police will also be introducing a new facility to make identification of ownership papers of vehicles easy for their owners.
"Once the facility is in place, a policeman at a check-post can contact the police control room and give details of a vehicle's papers and its owner. The control room will check the same and convey it to the cop at the check-post,” Sharma said.
