Ahmedabad trader loses car to ‘friend’

The ‘friend’ was a stranger who had met him recently at a coffee bar. He took the businesman’s car and never returned.

A businessman had to suffer the brunt of placing faith in a stranger. He lost his car to the stranger, who won his confidence and took his car for a ride, but never returned.

In his complaint to Vastrapur police, one Piyush Patel, a businessman from Visnagar alleged that one Sujal Singhania took his newly-purchased car for a ride on Saturday evening, but did not return. 

Patel is getting his house constructed in Ahmedabad. So, he used to visit the city from Visnagar in his Innova car regularly. While returning to Visnagar, he used to stop to have a cup of coffee near a coffee bar on SG Highway.

That was where he met Sujal Singhania, a resident of Alpha apartment in Vastrapur, who used to sit there with some girls on daily basis. Over time, both Patel and Singhania became friends.

Meanwhile, Patel purchased a brand new Nissan Sunny car and met Singhania at the coffee bar on Saturday. There Singhania asked for a ride from Patel.

Putting trust in him, Patel gave the keys to Singhania.

However, the latter never returned. When Patel went to Alpha apartment, he discovered that Singhania had lied to him of his residence. Vastrapur police took his complaint and started search operation for Singhania.
