Opposition AIADMK and its ally MDMK today staged a walk-out in Tamil Nadu Assembly after speaker R Avudaiyappan denied permission to raise an adjournment motion over alleged corruption in granting sanction for setting up an industrial unit near Mamallapuram.

Soon after Question Hour, deputy leader of Opposition O Panneerselvam insisted on taking up the motion immediately,
but the Speaker said it could be considered after getting a
reply from the concerned department.

Disatisfied with his ruling, AIADMK members walked out.

Chief minister M Karunanidhi accused the AIADMK of staging
the walk-out after giving notice for the adjournment motion at
around 9.10 am today only to give an impression before the
media and the people that they tried to raise a very sensitive
issue.
