AIADMK's 40th foundation day celebrated
It was on this day in 1972, the late MGR started the AIADMK.
The AIADMK's 40th foundation day was today celebrated by party workers all over the state.At the AIADMK headquarters here, party General Secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa garlanded the statue of partyfounder late M G Ramachandran and hoisted the party flag. She also released a special edition of the party organ 'Namathu MGR,' brought out on the occassion.It was on this day in 1972, the late MGR started the AIADMK after he was suspended for alleged anti-party activities from the DMK on October 10 that year. He had alleged in public meetings then that the DMK ministers and MLAs had amassed wealth during their tenure and described the then government headed by M Karunanidhi as corrupt.
