Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne, Chief of the Air Staff made his last sortie in Pune on Thursday. He flew with his son Squadron Leader Omar Browne.
The Air Chief and his son flew in Su-30 or Sukhoi-30 at the Lohegaon Airbase in Pune. Squadron Leader Browne is a pilot posted to 20 Squadron.
“This sortie would be recorded as the last sortie in the Air Chief’s log book,” said a defence spokesperson.
The Air Chief is on a three day visit to Pune to review the 125th Passing Out Parade of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune. He had once commanded the same air base as Air Officer Commanding, that is from the year 2000 to 2003.
Interestingly it was under his command that the Su-30MKIs were inducted at the Lohegaon Air Base back in September 2001.
