All Indians safe in Thailand

An MEA official denied reports in a section of media that some Indians had been affected due to the coup.

NEW DELHI: India is closely monitoring developments in Thailand in the wake of a military coup in which army wrested power from Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, a senior official said.

 

"The situation is being monitored closely and we are in touch with our Embassy in Bangkok," an MEA official said.

 

The official also denied reports in a section of media that some Indians had been affected due to the coup.

 

"All Indians are safe there," the official said.

 

Thailand Army Commander-in-Chief General Sondhi Boonyaratkalin has wrested power from Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and declared martial law in the country on Tuesday.
