Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders Dhawal Patel and Anil Patel told an undercover Tehelka reporter how they would make bombs in their stone crushing units in Sabarkanta using dynamite. “Our units were the hub of countrymade bombs,” Dhawal Patel claimed.

Asked about how they managed to evade the police, Anil Patel said, “All we had to say was Jai Shri Ram and they knew that we were Modi’s men.” The two also claimed that they transported these country-made bombs to other parts of Gujarat. “We killed at least 40-50 Muslims in Sabarkanta alone,” added Anil Patel.

Another VHP leader Ramesh Dave claimed that DCP S K Gadhvi whose task was to control the rioters actually killed ‘4-5 Muslims.’ All the three VHP leaders claimed that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi garlanded them ‘after the riots’.
