Allahabad Commissioner to probe stampede, report in 24 hours

The stampede in an ashram in Pratapgarh district killed 65 people.

The Uttar Pradesh govenment has ordered an inquiry by the commissioner of Allahabad division into the stampede in an ashram in Pratapgarh district in which 65 people were killed and submit his report within 24 hours.
   
The state cabinet secretary Shashank Shekher Singh said here that the commissioner has been asked to submit his report within 24 hours after which responsibility would be fixed and action taken against those found guilty.

An FIR has been filed in connection with the incident and the government would make an announcement on compensation after receiving the report, the cabinet secretary said.

On the incident, Singh said the mishap took place at the Mangarh Ashram of Kripaluji Maharaj during the 'Shradh' as the
crowd gathered there at a small place became unmanageable and one side of the gate fell on them, leading to the stampede.
