If secularism means compromise from self-respect and being ashamed of own religion then I would prefer to be called a non-secular person, says Amar Singh

In a video posted on Facebook, Independent lawmaker Amar Singh called Akhilesh Yadav, president of 'Namajwadi Party' and dared to expose his party's secular credentials in the country. The immediate provocation was Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan's statement in which he allegedly talked about cutting Singh into pieces and throw acid on his daughters and Yadav's announcement to construct a grand Lord Vishnu temple in Etawah.

"He should be ashamed of talking of building Vishnu temple. He is not president of Samajwadi Party but Namajwadi Party. I saved dignity of many women and girls in the Yadav clan and now Azam Khan threatens to cut me into pieces and shower acid on my daughters. I will expose them all," he warned.

"If secularism means compromise from self-respect and being ashamed of own religion then I would prefer to be called a non-secular person. I will unmask Samajwadi Party's secular face in the country," he said.

In the FB video, Singh is seen seething with anger and lashing out at Yadav and Khan. Singh claims that he saved dignity of many women in the Yadav's clan on the request of Mulayam's second wife Sadhna but they never reciprocated when he was in jail. "They never visited my wife and daughters when I went to jail because of Samajwadi Party," he said. He compared Khan with Mehmood Gajni, Tamur Lung and dared him to finish his political life. "He is a demon who is being reared by Akhilesh and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav," he said.
