Security has been beefed-up along the Jammu-Srinagar highway after fresh intelligence inputs suggested that the Amarnath yatra could be targeted by militants.

Intelligence inputs suggested that three Lashkar-e-Toiba cadres from Mohu-Mangat area of Banihal were sighted in the sensitive location. Two armed terrorists were seen in Bonkot, Banihal, reports said.

“Banihal has a presence of militants. There was some movement (of militants) in the area, though there was no specific threat whether they are going to target the yatra or not,” said Manish Sinha, DIG Doda-Ramban range.
