Andreas Schaaf appointed BMW India president

Schaaf, presently vice-president, sales and marketing, BMW Korea, will assume office in May 2010.

Auto major BMW today announced the appointment of Andreas Schaaf as president of BMW India, succeeding the incumbent Peter Kronschnabl.

Kronschnabl has been appointed president of BMW group Russia effective July one, 2010, a release from the carmaker said.

Schaaf, presently  vice-president, sales and marketing, BMW Korea, will assume office in May 2010, the release said adding prior to his Korean posting, Schaaf was head of market evelopment for Asia, Pacific, Africa and Central and Eastern Europe.

During the tenure of Kronschnabl a ‘’carefully planned market entry strategy for BMW  was  executed that set the course for long-term success,’’ the release said.

“Since its inception in 2006, BMW India has stood ground in a fiercely competitive environment, delivered strong operating performance and achieved market leadership in the luxury car segment in 2009,’’ it added.
