Another batch of 2,166 pilgrims leave for Amarnath from Jammu

As many as 2,166 pilgrims comprising of 1,435 males, 517 females, 94 children and 120 sadhus left in 89 vehicles from Bagwatinagar yatri bhawan - base camp in Jammu.

Amid tight security arrangements, a fresh batch of 2,166 pilgrims today left here for 3,888-metre high cave shrine of Lord Shiva at Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas.
 
As many as 2,166 pilgrims comprising of 1,435 males, 517 females, 94 children and 120 sadhus left in 89 vehicles from Bagwatinagar yatri bhawan - base camp in Jammu around 5am today, police officials said.
 
The yatra convoy with mobile escort of CRPF, Police and ITBP has already crossed Patnitop and are on their way to the base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam in Kashmir valley.
 
As many as 90,000 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the cave shrine till last night, Shrine Amarnath Shrine Board officials said.
 
"The yatra is going on smoothly," they said, adding all necessary facilities have been made enroute.
 
As many as 3.50 lakh pilgrims have been registered so far across the country. The yatra would conclude on August 25.
