Arms recovered near Srinagar
Police, assisted by troops of 29 Rashtriya Rifles, cordoned off Zangam-Pattan village, 27 kms from here, and launched a house-to-house search operation this morning.
On the eve of Republic Day celebrations, security forces today recovered arms and ammunition from the house of a former Hizbul Mujahideen militant in Baramullah district, making it the second seizue in two days.Police said Manzoor Ahmad Lone, who was arrested during the operation, was earlier in their custody and released. Police, assisted by troops of 29 Rashtriya Rifles, cordoned off Zangam-Pattan village, 27 kms from here, and launched a house-to-house search operation this morning.Two hand grenades, a pistol, its magazine and four rounds were recovered from the house.Yesterday, arms and ammunition including 150 grenades of various types and 10 KGs of RDX were recovered from nearbyvillage Cheek-e-Mamoosa.
