AHMEDABAD: The Indian Army evacuated over 17,000 people in Surat city following a rise in the water level of the Tapti.
 
In Vadodara, a holiday has been declared in primary and secondary schools in the city and the district following a rise in the water level at Ajwa on the outskirts of the city, which is flowing a feet below the danger level.
 
The district authorities have asked people staying in villages, on the banks of the Narmada in Bharuch and Vadodara districts, to move to safer places after overflow of water from the Sardar Sarovar dam across the river.
