Army jawan abducted, shot in Jammu and Kashmir

Aurangzeb was on way home to celebrate Eid with family when terrorists intercepted his car

The bullet-ridden body of an Army jawan was recovered from Pulwama district hours after he was abducted en route home to celebrate Eid with his family. His body was found by a team of police and Army at Gussu village, about 10 km away from Kalampora, in Pulwama district.

He was shot in his head and neck, police said. 

Rifleman Aurangzeb of 44 Rashtriya Riffles (RR) was kidnapped when terrorists intercepted a private car at Kalampora village in Pulwama. 

The terrorists abducted Aurangzeb but let the driver go. The incident occurred in the morning when troops stopped a car at Shadimarg and asked the driver to drop the soldier near Shopian for his onward journey via Mughal Road.

“A resident of Poonch in Pir Panjal valley of Jammu, Aurangzeb was going home via Mughal Road to celebrate Eid with his family. We are ascertaining the details,” said Colonel Rajesh Kalia, defence spokesman at Srinagar.

Senior superintendent of police, Pulwama, Mohammad Aslam said there are reports that the soldier was going home when he was abducted. “The Army is unable to contact the soldier. Currently, they are busy with search operation to trace him. We will register a case once the Army gives us a formal compliant,” he said.

Three Cases Of Abductions Reported From Kashmir Last Year

May 10, 2017: Terrorists abducted Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz (22) of Rajputana Riffles from the residence of his maternal uncle in Batpora village in Shopian district. He had gone there to attend his cousin sister’s marriage. He was taken to the neighbouring Harmain village and shot dead.

Sept 27, 2017: Terrorists stormed the house of Kashmiri BSF jawan Mohommad Ramzan Parrey (aka Rameez). The terrorists fired indiscriminately on the inmates killing him and injuring three members of his family at Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Nov 25, 2017: Terrorists killed sepoy Irfan Ahmad Dar of 175 Territorial Army (Engineers), who was on leave at Wothmula village, Shopian district.
