Leader of the Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vijender Gupta on Monday criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal for registering as a voter from three different constituencies in the capital. The BJP was objecting to Kejriwal registering himself as a voter from Sahibabad, Seemapuri and New Delhi constituencies.
“It is a criminal offence, and the Election Commission will investigate the matter,” Gupta said after the BJP had filed a complaint with the commission on this issue.
Gupta asked, “How can he have a voter id card in three different constituencies? Why did he apply for this? This did not happen all of a sudden. His EPIC number (Electors photo identity card number) is same in all three cards. If he had knowledge about this, then why he didn’t take necessary steps?”
“On moral grounds, he (Kejriwal) should give an explanation for this. It is clear now that the means adopted by him and the things he says are poles apart,” he said.
“We won’t accept this as a case of mistake or negligence, and now his party has to decide what steps they take on the matter,” he said.
