The Bengaluru-based ISRO says that its chairman does not have any personal account on any social media platforms

In the wake of the Chandrayaan mission, several social media accounts on Twitter and other platforms, claiming to be Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief Kailasavadivoo Sivan (along with his photographs), the space body on Monday categorically stated that none of them are authentic.

The Bengaluru-based ISRO said that its chairman does not have any personal account on any social media platforms.

Several fake accounts in Sivan's name mushroomed minutes after Chandrayaan-2's Vikram Lander lost contact with ISRO scientists on Saturday.

As the entire nation lauded ISRO and its scientists, in the midst of this, a Twitter account became operational in Sivan's name and garnered over 30,000 followers within no time. Later, a clip of ISRO chief being consoled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also tweeted by this account and the video went viral in a few minutes. Another fake Twitter account collected 19,000 followers before shutting down.
