As the flood situation in Assam deteriorates, Chief Secretary V K Pipersenia on Monday reviewed the situation and directed the officials to gear up relief and rescue operations on a war footing.
In a video conference with deputy commissioners of the flood affected districts, the chief secretary took stock of the flood situation and asked them to gear up flood relief and rescue operations, official sources said.
Pipersenia said that the government would take all the steps for tackling the current flood situation and to help the affected people.
He also directed that two more NDRF boats be provided in Morigaon district and necessary arrangements be made for aerial survey of the flood affected areas of Morigaon and Nagaon district, the sources said.
