Repoll in Manipur on February 4
New Delhi: The Election Commission on Tuesday ordered repoll in 34 polling stations of 11 assembly seats in Manipur on February 4 and in one booth in Punjab on February 2. The fresh poll will now be held between 7 am and 3pm in the two states, the Election Commission said.
LJP to contest all 403 seats in UP
Lucknow: Releasing his party manifesto for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Tuesday said his party would contest on all 403 seats in the state.
Stung BSP changes candidate
Lucknow: The ruling Bahujan Samaj Party on Tuesday changed its candidate for Gangoh assembly seat in Saharanpur district, Nahid Munnawar, after his name figured in a sting operation aired by a news channel. “Party supremo Mayawati has decided to change Munnawar’s candidature. Shagufta Khan has been given the ticket,” a party release said here.
Will open schools in Maya parks
Allahabad: Samajwadi Party Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav declared on Tuesday that if his party was voted to power in UP, he would set up schools and hospitals on lands where parks and memorials have been built by the Mayawati government in the state. “Mayawati is the biggest land mafia the state has ever seen. She has forcibly acquired thousands of acres of land for building parks and memorials,” Yadav told an election rally here.
BJP mum on Naik candidature
Panaji: The BJP has decided to keep mum on the issue of its MP Sripad Naik’s entry into Goa politics through the forthcoming assembly polls. BJP vice president Venkaiah Naidu has said that it is for the central committee to decide on the issue. Naik, representing North Goa constituency in Parliament, had expressed his wish to join state politics by fighting election from Porvorim. The party leadership had , however, had refused to allow him contest the polls.
