The Uttar Pradesh government is busy with special preparations for Diwali to make the festival a grand celebration as compared to the last two years. The plan is to make Ayodhya look like the Treta Yug on the occasion of Diwali. Like in the Treta Yuga, just as Lord Ram was welcomed in the city after 14 years in exile, a similar reception is being planned this time.

The Deepotsav will be organised from October 24 to 26. Tourism ministers of all states and many foreign dignitaries will attend this festival, preparations for which have been started vigorously. Tourism secretary Jitendra Kumar inspected the ongoing development works on Ram Ki Paidi.

The Department of Culture will also stage Ramleela in five countries among which the one in the Philippines and China will be special. Actors from the state will participate in Thailand's Ramleela, while artists from Thailand, Sri Lanka and Indonesia will give an artistic tribute through their paintings on Ramayana.
