BJP today announced that Azad Singh, Mayor of North Delhi Municipal Corporation, will contest from Mundka assembly constituency in North West Delhi.

Earlier, the party had renominated its sitting candidate from the constituency Manoj Shokeen who had won in 2008 by a margin of over 14,000 votes.

Party chief Vijay Goel said Shokeen will contest from Nangloi constituency.

After refused ticket initially, Singh, brother of former Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, had resigned as Mayor claiming he was the 'deserving' candidate for Mundka seat.

In a letter to BJP President Rajnath Singh, Singh had even alleged that money has been taken in distribution of tickets and deserving candidates have been sidelined.
