Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday claimed that in Bandipora district of North Kashmir, a newly recruited terrorists was arrested along with arms and ammunition. The militant, identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan from Bandipora's Panzigam area, was apprehended at a special checkpoint established by security forces following a tip-off, a police spokesman said.
"Police, along with security forces, have arrested one active terrorist of proscribed terror outfit JeM from Patushahi area of Bandipora," he said
Police said based on information, regarding movement of terrorists from Sopore to Bandipora, a joint special checkpoint was established by Bandipora police along with security forces at Patushahi in the district. During checking, the terrorist identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, resident of Panzigam in Bandipora, was arrested.
Police said incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from his possession. As per police records, he was associated with the Jaish-e-Mohammad.
SSP Bandipora Rahul Malik said, "Based on a specific information regarding movement of terrorists from Sopore to Bandipora, a joint naka by Bandipora police and security Forces was laid at Patushay, Bandipora during the checking."
A police handout reads, "The subject has recently joined banned terror outfit organization JeM and was given the task to carry out subversive activities in Sopore and Bandipora Towns."
Earlier On 26/01/2021, the said terrorists taking the advantage of darkness, gave a slip to the security forces and managed to escape from spot during Cordon and search operation laid down by Bandipora/Sopore Police along with security forces at Adipora Sopore.
Police have registered Case FIR under relevant sections of law stands registered in police station Bandipora and investigation has been taken up.
