Bengaluru Bandh: A Bengaluru Bandh has been announced on September 26 by pro-Kannada and farmer organizations, and many city functions are anticipated to halt. More than 175 groups from all over the state have endorsed the bandh and claimed they support the farmer organizations protesting the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
Following a recommendation from the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC), the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) recently instructed Karnataka to keep releasing 5,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu for an additional 15 days, according to Times Now.
A decision regarding water sharing with Tamil Nadu will be taken on September 26 during the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee's subsequent meeting, according to a statement from the Karnataka cabinet.
Know what will be opened and closed in Bangalore on September 26:
Cab services (Ola, Uber): According to Tanveer Pasha, president of the Ola Uber Drivers' and Owners' Association, who also proclaimed their support for the protest.
KSRTC and BMTC buses: The KSRTC Staff and Workers Federation extended its support for the ‘Bengaluru Bandh’ and both KSRTC and BMTC services are likely to be affected.
Metro services: Airport taxi services may be affected, however, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will continue to provide regular Namma Metro services.
Schools and colleges: Although the general secretary of the Private Schools Union, Shashikumar, stated that they would show their support by donning black bands on their arms, many schools and colleges have not yet announced a holiday.
Restaurants: The hotel and restaurant associations extended their support to the bandh and said that they would keep their outlet shut.
Hospitals: Hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies, and government offices are among the essential services that will continue to be available.
Theatres: Movie theatres in the city are expected to remain closed.
