Besides Narendra Modi, three lawyers grilled by SIT

HM Dhruv, VP Atre and Piyush Gandhi questioned. Activist Teesta Setalvad had made complaints against these three to the SIT, which is why they were summoned on Saturday.

Along with chief minister Narendra Modi three advocates were also summoned by SIT for questioning on Saturday. They are HM Dhruv, VP Atre and Piyush Gandhi. Dhruv is a senior lawyer in criminal law. He was special public prosecutor handling a few POTA cases including Godhra train carnage.

He is also PP in 20 out of 28 cases of Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts of 2008. When SIT appointed PP's in Gulbarg massacre and Naroda Patiya cases, Dhruv's name was suggested, but he was not appointed.

The cause of Dhruv's interrogation by SIT was allegation made against certain PPs that they were favouring the state government.Atre is the most senior additional PP in the city civil and sessions court. Earlier, he was PP in Naroda Patiya and Naroda Gam cases. Gandhi is a former district government pleader of Panchmahals (Godhra).

They were questioned by SIT after competition of first round of Modi's questioning in the evening. Sources said that SIT asked them if they were associated with VHP, Bagrang Dal or BJP or whether they have any inclination towards the present government. The lawyers were questioned for only about 20 minutes. After coming out, Dhruv told DNA that he was "called by SIT because of the complaint made by Teesta Setalvad.”
