NEW DELHI: An abortive bid was made on Thursday to kill a young lady advocate in broad day light inside the Delhi High Court premises by two of her estranged relatives, in what could be the ugly fallout of a property dispute.
Two persons, identified as Ramesh and Rakesh, gagged and assaulted advocate Hiteshi Arora in her chamber on Thursday morning, police said. The duo later tied her to a chair and forced some detergent down her throat.
The lady, a divorcee in her early-30s, was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital and later shifted to a private clinic near her residence in Faridabad. She has suffered a fracture in her left elbow and her condition was alright, they said.
Police have registered a case under sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 342 (wrongful confinement), 452 (trespass) and 323 (causing hurt) against the duo, who are still at large.
According to police, one of the assailant was Arora's brother-in-law while the second one was his brother and the two were residents of Faridabad.
Initial investigation revealed that the attack was the result of a property dispute between Arora and the duo. A case in this regard was pending disposal in a court in Fariabad, they said.
Arora had been contesting her case and duo had earlier also threatened her to withdraw the case.
