While you and I are groaning about the extreme heat, the king of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan, exploring the arid desert of Kutch, seems fit as a fiddle. Sources in the entourage working closely
with him said that despite working in wee hours of the morning and late in the night, the senior actor is not at all ruffled with high temperature and is, in fact, having a very good time.
Monday was the fourth day of Bachchan’s seven-day tour of Gujarat to shoot short films for market Gujarat’s tourism. “The schedule is very hectic. His make-up takes an hour! Because of the heat, the shoots are scheduled either early in the morning or late in the evening. Sometimes, we get exhausted, but Bachchan is always ready to go. He is very very fit. He has had a treadmill installed in his room and works out whenever he gets time,” a source said.
Besides, the source added that Bachchan is really involved in the process of shooting and seems to be thoroughly enjoying himself. “He is contributing a great deal to the creatives, participates in the creative meetings and is keen to learn about Gujarat. He is quite impressed with the infrastructure that he sees around him in the rural areas,” he added.
That the veteran actor is extremely charmed by Bhuj is evident from the latest post on his blog, along with lots of pictures of the Bhuj palace and the Rann. “The region, the people, the place, the visuals … the air .. grows within you. The air of Gujarat. With each breath the colours and the vibrancy fill you up with an energy that I have not experienced in the recent past,” the opening lines of the blog read. In an elaborate post, he talks about the historical fables of the arid land, the recent history and exquisite culture of the region that has apparently bowled him over.
After shooting in Mandvi on Monday, Big B’s ‘Khushboo Gujarat ki’ campaign will be arriving in Gir forests to capture on camera the feline majesty of the Asiatic Lions.
