The alliance of six parties led by Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday announced the seat sharing between them for the upcoming Bihar assembly polls.
As per the understanding between the parties, the Samajwadi Party will contest 85 seats, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will contest 40 seats, Pappu Yadav's Jan Kranti Adhikar Morcha (JKAM) will contest 64 seats, Samarth Samaj Party will contest on 28 seats, Samajwadi Janata Party will contest 23 seats while NPP will contest 3 seats.
NCP leader Tariq Anwar had earlier said that people of Bihar needed a third alternative as the other two alliances have failed the people. Elections for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held in five phases between October 12 and November 5. Counting of votes will take place on November 8.
The term of the current Bihar Assembly comes to an end on November 29.
