Almost half-page advertisements along with prescribed party joining forms were published in the local Hindi dailies yesterday.

Two days after AICC general secretary, Rahul Gandhi has galvanised the party in Bihar, the state Youth Congress has come out with advertisements in local dailies here urging the youths to join the party.

Almost half-page advertisements along with prescribed party joining forms were published in the local Hindi dailies yesterday appealing to the youth to be members of the Congress under the caption 'Neta Bano, Neta Chuno-- Yuva Congress ke Sadsya Bano' (Be Leader, Elect Leader - Be a Member of the Youth Congress) .

"There is nothing wrong in giving advertisements and publishing prescribed forms exhorting the youths to join the Congress,"  Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) president, Anil Sharma told PTI here today.

The membership drive would go a long way in the electoral revival of the party in the state, said Sharma. Sharma said sharing power with the RJD in 2000-04 was a mistake for the Congress. "It has robbed much of the party's aggressiveness."

Congress contested 51 out of 243 seats in October 2005 assembly elections as a junior ally of RJD and won just nine seats and polled a mere 6.09 per cent of votes.

The party, however, increasrd its tally to ten in 2009 by-elections to 18 assembly seats.
