NEW DELHI: Socialite Bina Ramani, the key witness in the Jessica Lal murder case and accused in a case of cheating and forgery, will be spending her next 14 days in Tihar Jail as a court here remanded her to judicial custody.
Ramani was lodged in Jail No 6, which houses the women prisoners in Asia’s largest prison, a Tihar jail official said. “Today, she was admitted to Jail no-6, the women’s jail.
She is kept in the in the reception ward there. No special arrangement has been made for her accommodation,” the official added. “She will continue to stay there till further court orders,” the official said.
Ramani has also undergone medical check up at the Jail.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Kamini Lau had on Monday extended Ramani’s four-day police remand by two days and allowed the police to take her to Goa to recover originals of the documents that she had allegedly forged to claim the ownership of “Once Upon A Time”, a restaurant-cum-bar also known as Tamarind Court in south Delhi, and that the restaurant had a license to serve liquor.
