CHANDIGARH: Scores of devotees thronged the Gurudwaras in Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana on Saturday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh.
Braving the chill, devouts crowded the Gurudwaras since early this morning and took a dip in the sarovars (water tanks) attached to the historic shrines at a number of places including Muktsar, Faridkot, Takhtpura and Nanakpura(Moga) and offered prayers.
People also listened to the Kirtan and attended 'Akhand Path' ceremonies in various towns in the two states as well as the union territory of Chandigarh.
Free community kitchens (Langars) were also organized on the occasion amidst tight security arrangements with additional personnel being deployed to ensure safe celebrations at various places including Muktsar, Ludhiana, Amritsar,Ambala, Kurukshetra and Kaithal.
