Gambhir has replaced Maheish Girri as the party's candidate and will take on Arvinder Singh Lovely of the Congress and Atishi of the AAP.

The BJP on Monday fielded former cricketer Gautam Gambhir from the East Delhi constituency and renominated Meenakshi Lekhi from the New Delhi seat, but suspense prevailed on party's candidate from North-West Delhi.

Barring the North-West Delhi seat, the party has so far announced its candidates for six of the seven seats in the national capital.

Gambhir has replaced Maheish Girri as the party's candidate and will take on Arvinder Singh Lovely of the Congress and Atishi of the AAP.

In another development, the month-long negotiation between Congress and AAP failed in national capital with grand old party announcing six of the seven candidates for the elections in Delhi.

Congress declared names of its six stalwarts, including three-time chief minister Sheila Dikshit.

All eyes will be now on the Northeast Lok Sabha seat where the Congress has pitted its Dikshit against Delhi BJP unit head and MP Manoj Tiwari and AAP Delhi leader Dilip Pandey from this seat.

The Congress has fielded former Union Minister Ajay Maken from the prestigious New Delhi seat. The AAP has fielded Brajesh Goyal from this seat. At present, the seat is represented by senior lawyer and BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi. In 2014, the BJP had won all the seven seats in the national capital.
