A senior BJP leader today demanded strong action against the "pro-Naxal" students in JNU who had held a meeting to oppose the government's operation against Maoists.

In a statement, he also urged home minister P Chidambaram to remove the "elements supporting the Maoists" from the prestigious university.

JNU Forum Against War On People, a group of students who are against the Centre's policies towards Naxals, had organised a meeting in the university last evening to oppose the government's operation against Maoists.
